New features
Builders and Wizards
Many of the existing wizards have been improved to set defaults based on the configuration of the current PC. There are some new wizards for the configuration of items in the project database. All of the wizards are accessible from Project Organiser.
InTouch Application
The new InTouch application has been converted to run on InTouch 9.5 Patch 2. The new InTouch shell application has been modified to allow online changes in alarm group configuration. This change allows alarm groups to added, deleted or modified in project organiser and shown in the Wonderware InTouch without re-starting. Please note that for changes to alarm groups to be shown in InTouch the project has to be deployed.
The Server status notification has been changed to always display the health of primary server even when the server is completely healthy. The status has also been modified to show deployment status in the Server status.
The EurothermSuite About box has been enlarged and made into a single page with no tabs. The new about window now includes information on deployment status along with server help and version information. It is now much easier to monitor and show more than 6 server PCs.
Eycon-10, Eycon-20, T820 Support
Support for Eycon-10, Eycon-20 and T820 instrument templates has been added.
Project Organiser
There’s a new configuration tool call Project Organiser that’s designed to replace the Project Namespace, Plant Model, Display Navigation and ESManager. It also provides some of the functionality of ESConfig.
Project Organiser is a single starting point for configuring a EurothermSuite project. Any relevant external tools can be started from a context sensitive application toolbar. Project Organiser contains a deployment toolbar that controls the deployment of both the project database and security database.
There’s now the concept of a default alarm group. Any new tags created will get assigned to the default alarm group. The default alarm group can be changed from the alarm group properties. The configuration of Security areas has been changed to allow plant units to be assigned to a security area.
Project Deployment
Project deployment has now fundamentally changed from the system used in EurothermSuite 4.1.1 and earlier. Rather than using Microsoft replication system for deploying and synchronising the project database the new system works in a same way as the existing Security database deployment.
The change in deployment has been made to reduce problems encountered when synchronising. The deployment of the project database and security database has been combined in the new Deployment toolbar used in Project Organiser. Major configuration changes can only be made on the configuration master. Any project configuration changes made on client PCs will not be synchronised.
Project Upgrade
Any existing project will require upgrading. The following instructions describe the upgrade procedure on a replicated EurothermSuite 3.4 or later project.
-
Stop EurothermSuite on all servers and clients. Ensure that LINOPC has been stopped on all EurothermSuite servers.
-
Delete the replicated project databases from all deployed systems.
-
Open the project on the configuration master and either right click and select "Upgrade Project DB" or double click on the "Upgrade Project DB" icon. This will start the project upgrade tool.
-
Upgrade both the project database and security database to the latest installed versions following the dialogs in the project upgrade tool. This will create a non replicated database that can be deployed using project organiser. The tool will also add a project organiser shortcut to the project folder.
-
Deploy and manage the upgraded project using project organiser.
Active Factory 9.1 upgrade
Open and save the ZZ_InSQLTrend window in WindowMaker before running the windows in WindowViewer, so that the control will display properly at runtime. Existing .CRV files cannot be opened with the aaHistClientTrend control. You will need to import any .CRV files into the ActiveFactory Trend application and then save them (as .aaTrend files).
To import .CRV data run the Active Factory Trend application and:
-
On the Tools menu, click Import. The Open dialog box appears.
-
Select the .CRV file to open and then click Open.
-
Then select Save As… and save it with the same name/prefix as before.
-
Repeat for each CRV file.

Known Issues at release time
Using MODBUS tools with a T800
If the TCP Properties for the T800 are edited using the MODBUS Tools TCP Properties dialog, the user should ensure that the Instr. Nr. is explicitly specified otherwise it will be reported as an invalid Instr. Nr.
Large Icons in Windows XP
There can be a problem with the icons being incorrectly displayed in the Application Toolbar in Project Organiser. The problem is caused buy the user having "Use large icons" checked in their display properties. To work around the problem open the display properties and select the "Appearance" tab then click the "Effects…" button. The Effects dialog will be displayed. Uncheck the "Use large icons" check box to correctly display the tools in project Organiser. Please note that this setting will need to be changed for each user on the PC.
Changing Active Project
Project Organiser only checks the active project when starting so any changes to the active project will not affect Project Organiser while running.
InTouch 9.5 Patch 02 install
If InTouch 9.5 is installed with no additional patches then Patch 02 will automatically be installed by EurothermSuite. If Patch 01 of InTouch 9.5 is installed Patch 02 will not be installed. Installations of InTouch 9.5 Patch 01 should be upgraded to Patch 02. The patch can be found in the installs\InTouch95\Patch path on the EurothermSuite CD.
MDAC install
New DELL PCs are being shipped with a fault where MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) is not correctly installed. This prevents applications like the Plant Model editor and IO Manager from being able to start. The only workaround is to re-install Windows from the supplied installation CDs.
T560 Installation
In the T560 CD pack there is an iFIX LIN driver CD. The latest iFIX /FIX32 LIN driver is now contained on the EurothermSuite CD so that the separate driver CD is not required if the EurothermSuite CD has been used to install T560.
