How do I install Security Manager from 4.5 (Active Directory) on an older system ?

The preferred method of getting the new Active Directory login feature is to upgrade the entire system. This is not always possible. It may be that the system is a validated system and so minimal changes are required. Firstly, do not attempt this without help from UK R&D. The minimal change does involve 4 installs and a security database upgrade.

  • The security database from the customer will need to be upgraded. Because the upgrade software is not going to be installed on the customer system it is best to ask UK R&D to upgrade the security database to EurothermSuite 4.5 version. Remember to find a time when security database changes will not take place on the customer site. And do not start the rest of the process until the upgraded database has been returned.

  • Shutdown all PCs and then perform the following steps.

  • Make sure you have .NET framework 2.0 installed on all PCs. The setup is here.

  • Run the install file \Installs\ESCommon\setup.exe on all PCs.

  • Run the install file \Installs\MSInteropForms\Microsoft.InteropformsRedist.msi on all PCs.

  • Run the install file \Installs\SecurityManager\setup.exe on all PCs.

  • Replace the security database (secmandb.ujx) on all PCs with the upgraded database.
